Metropolitan matches 401(k) contributions to increase the amount of your annual savings toward retirement.   Dental coverage, through Delta Dental, is offered at no cost to regular full-time; regular part-time employees pay a pro-rated fee.  Qualified dependents can be added to the dental plan at no extra cost.  Metropolitan contracts with Vision Service Provider, or VSP, for vision coverage and covers the cost for regular full-time employees.  Costs are prorated for regular part-time employees. Qualified dependents can be added for a flat monthly fee.  We have insurance programs covering life, long-term disability and accidental death and dismemberment.     Job Description

    This District Temp Part Time Student Intern position will receive training and learn IT Telecom architecture, installation and configuration of 2-way radio equipment and antennae, microwave radios/dishes, and VOIP phones. This intern will work closely with our Telecom team technicians and learn RF system and batter UPS system.

    The Student Intern will support various technical tasks, including troubleshooting, programming, and installing two-way radios, microwave systems, battery UPS systems, and VOIP phones. Responsibilities also include troubleshooting phone lines and network connectivity, assisting with equipment installation, inventory management, and organization. Additionally, the intern will conduct research, participate in project teams, verify, and analyze data, apply academic knowledge to practical work environments, and contribute to process improvement initiatives. They will assist in planning studies, compiling information, preparing reports, and making recommendations to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. This position will perform other related Telecom duties as required.

    Schedule: (PART TIME) 44/36, Monday through Friday with every other Friday off. (Position Terms on 12/31/2025)

    EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Education and Experience: Current enrollment in an accredited four-year college or university carrying a minimum of 12 semester units or 8 quarter units with junior or senior standing in a related major and maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 or higher on a 4.0 scale, or current enrollment in an accredited graduate degree program in a related major with a grade point average of 2.75 or higher.

    Related major is defined as: Computer Science or Computer Engineering

    CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

    License(s): Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
