    Join our team as a Law Enforcement Records Specialist II for the Detention Center, and contribute to maintaining order, efficiency, and accuracy within our detention center. This opportunity offers a chance to make a significant impact in public service while honing your diverse skill set.

    We are currently seeking a dedicated professional to fill our vital role responsible for executing a diverse range of specialized clerical and record-keeping responsibilities. This position serves as an essential link, providing select services to the public and disseminating pertinent information to both the Sheriff's Office personnel and external agencies.

    Schedule & Benefits:

    • Rotating 12.25-Hour Shifts: 4 days on, 4 days off, 2 days on, 2 days off. Day shift 5:45am - 6:00pm and Night shift 5:45pm - 6:00am. Rotate day/night shift every 90 days.

    HOURLY RANGE: $20.59 - 24.40

    HIRING ANNUAL SALARY RANGE: $48,303 - $57,241 (Estimated Annual Salary)

    Duties and Responsibilities

    The primary duties include:

    Maintaining and updating files meticulously in both digital and written formats.Managing data entry and retrieval within RMS and NCIC systems.Ensuring the accurate dissemination of information to requesting parties or agencies.Conducting fingerprinting and photographing tasks for employees and the public.Overseeing and monitoring video visitation scheduling and management.Processing bonds, accepting payment for fines, and reconciling cash.Auditing records and retrieving/processing warrants.Typing, data entry, and filing duties, as required.

    This role necessitates extensive interaction with the public and other governmental entities through both telephone and in-person channels. Candidates must consistently exhibit a professional and courteous demeanor while interacting with all individuals.

    In addition to these core responsibilities, we welcome applications from candidates capable of performing general clerical tasks such as typing, data entry, and filing.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • At least 18 years old and a U.S. Citizen
    • A high school graduate or have a GED
    • A South Carolina licensed driver; or the ability to obtain a South Carolina driver’s license
    • Honorably discharged from the military (if applicable).
    • Have no pending cases or criminal felony convictions (misdemeanors may require expungement).
    • No THC or Marijuana use within 365 days; some drugs are automatic disqualifiers.
    • No student loans in default status.
    • Must pass background checks
    • Demonstrate proficiency in performing repetitive clerical tasks accurately and efficiently, leveraging personal computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), internet navigation, JMS, RMS, and NCIC systems.
    • Exhibit exceptional interpersonal abilities, consistently displaying professionalism and courtesy while engaging with a diverse range of individuals and external entities.
    • Possess the capacity to obtain NCIC certification within six months post-selection, aligning with our commitment to continuous learning and adherence to industry standards.

    The process includes, but is not limited to the following:

    • Nelson-Denny Reading Comprehension Test
    • Background investigation including a credit check
    • In-person panel interview & tour of the detention center
    • Polygraph examination
    • Psychological examination/evaluation
    • Two-Part pre-employment physical examination
