Director of Behavioral Health

Butte County is seeking a Director of Behavioral Health to lead a complex system of care serving children, adults, and families across mental health and substance use services. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, this executive will guide strategy, operations, and system transformation in a highly visible, high-impact role.
This is a pivotal moment. The Director will advance major initiatives, including expanded treatment and crisis services, system integration, and partnerships across healthcare, public safety, and community organizations—directly improving outcomes for the community.
The ideal candidate is a strategic, collaborative leader with experience managing large, complex behavioral health systems and navigating change with clarity and purpose.
Salary: $166,041–$200,909 DOQE + excellent benefits.
