Job Description
Overview
The Utilities Maintenance Foreman leads and trains Utility Mechanic staff, assigns and QAs work orders in Maximo, inspects work performed by contractors to ensure compliance with standards, generates reports, and makes recommendations to supervisors. This position performs mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance on mechanical equipment and systems in facilities throughout CC Water Department.
Responsibilities
• Supports the maintenance supervisor in leadership and management
• Leads daily work assignments, prioritizes work, and assists with training for Utility Mechanics
• Provides leadership to drive continuous improvement to improve equipment reliability to the plant and pump station, safety, health, and environmental performance
• Performs accurate and timely documentation of work in Maximo, the City's CMMS
• Leads mechanical technicians in routine and emergency troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of treatment plant and lift station equipment, including pumps, motors, generators, blowers, compressors, process systems, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, piping, valves, drivelines, conveyors, gearboxes, speed reducers, filtration, chemical feed, and dewatering equipment
• Performs failure analysis on mechanical equipment and systems support the Maintenance Supervisor in determining appropriate corrective actions.
• Carries out fabrication tasks using power tools, welding equipment, and cutting torches
• Supervises and trains employees to safely operate power tools, overhead cranes, crane trucks, and other heavy equipment and machinery
• Serves as Safety Officer, ensuring compliance with all safety practices while working around rotating equipment, hazardous gases and chemicals, elevated heights, confined spaces, and other high-risk conditions.
• Leads and maintains mechanical operations by inspecting and evaluating lift stations daily
• Performs in field testing, equipment start-up and shutdown, verification of operating performance, and system troubleshooting
• Supervise buildings and grounds maintenance by assigning weekly work schedules to ensure grounds, buildings, and equipment are maintained in a neat, clean, and safe operating condition to stay incompliance with TCEQ regulation
• Communicates with supervisors, inspection personnel, and contractors to provide inspection, maintenance, and construction support for all mechanical systems and facilities associated with Wastewater treatment plants and lift stations
• May be asked to perform additional duties
Position Type and Typical Hours of Work
• Non-Exempt - Full-Time - 40-hour work week
• Must be available to work additional hours as needed
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement
• In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services

Minimum Qualifications
• High School Diploma/GED
• Five (5) years of experience
Licenses and Certifications
Required
• A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hiring
Required within one (1) year of hire
• Water or Wastewater Operator C License or Wastewater Collections I or Distribution D
Preferred
• CDL

Basis of Rating
A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview
