    Municipal Court Clerk I - Pay Range: $18.32 - $22.90/hr.

    Municipal Court Clerk II - Pay Range: $19.74 - $24.67/hr.

    A Municipal Court Clerk I/II job is available with the City of Fort Worth Municipal Court Judicial Division. This position performs a variety of duties to assist the Teen Court program in Municipal Court, including the enrollment of teen court participants referred by the Municipal Court judges, coordination of teen court participants' community service hours and referral to various community volunteer agencies. The Municipal Court Clerk will assist in overseeing of the docketing of teen court cases; recruit and train adult and teen volunteers to assist in the Teen Court process; and perform a variety of administrative tasks in support of the assigned area of responsibility.

    Minimum Qualifications for Municipal Court Clerk I:
    • High School diploma/GED
    • Valid driver's license
    • Possession of or the ability to maintain a valid Court Clerk Certification Level 1 within eighteen months (18) of hire

    Minimum Qualifications for Municipal Court Clerk II:
    • High School diploma/GED
    • Two (2) years of responsible customer service experience
    • Valid driver's license
    • Possession of or the ability to maintain a valid Court Clerk Certification Level 1 within eighteen months (18) of hire

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Criminal Justice, Business Administration, Public Administration, Marketing, Humanities, Psychology or Public Relations or related field
    • Three years of increasingly responsible experience in teen or juvenile service programs
    • Volunteer service programs or related field
    • Bilingual (Spanish)

    The Municipal Court Clerk /III job responsibilities include:
    • Assists with the preparation of case documents, court notices, and schedules cases for Teen Court trial and hearings
    • Assists with enrollment of teens referred by the Municipal Court Judge into the Teen Court program; completes Release of Liability, Teen Court Contract, Community Service Agreement and Referral; and provides information to the parent and the participant on the conditions and rules of Teen Court
    • Maintains records and informational files regarding Teen Court participants assigned to a specific City department or community volunteer placements; and maintains records and files on Teen Court adult and teen volunteers
    • Assists with coordinating and planning volunteer efforts for special departmental events and programs, as assigned
    • Adheres to assigned work schedule as outlined in the Department and City attendance policies and procedures; and ensures all behaviors comply with the City's Personnel Rules and Regulations
    • Assists with assessing the Teen Court and Diversion program needs
    • Performs other related duties as required

    Physical Demand

    Sedentary Work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met

    Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions.

    Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position: Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A Misdemeanor Conviction, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions in the last 10 years, Class A Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication in the last 10 years, an Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and ALL Family Violence Convictions regardless of class.

    Medical Program

    Vacation

    Eligible for 3 weeks of vacation: After successful completion of probationary period (usually
    6 months), employees may take time off for rest, relaxation, vacation, illness, religious observances, and personal business.

    Holidays

    Available on the first day of employment, the city provides employees with paid holidays, including two personal holidays.

    Wellness Program

    The city’s Healthy Challenge Wellness Program rewards all full-time, benefit-eligible employees on the city’s health insurance. The Healthy Challenge Program utilizes a points system. Participants may earn points throughout the year (Jan. 1-Dec. 15) for completing specific program activities and participants can redeem points at the end of the year for a cash reward. By participating, individuals can earn $150, $200 or $250 by accumulating program points.
