    ABOUT THE POSITION

    The Clark County District Attorney is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Electronic Evidence Specialist position. This position will be responsible to produce a variety of materials and formats to support the prosecution of cases and provide various forms of discovery to defense counsel that will include bates stamping. As a member of our team, you will provide technical electronic support to the District Attorney’s Office, generally using multimedia applications to produce a variety of discovery materials and informational materials used in a legal setting.

    This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.

    Employment is contingent upon the results of a background investigation, which may include both a pre-and post-offer background check for positions within the District Attorney’s Office.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    Education and Experience: Equivalent to graduation from high school AND three (3) years of full-time demonstrated experience in the use of digital media conversion and desktop publishing equipment. Some college level training in graphics is desirable. Professional level experience and/or education that has provided the skills and knowledge necessary to perform all job functions at this level may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
    All qualifying education and each experience must be clearly documented in the “Education” and “Work Experience” sections of the application .     Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.

    Citizenship: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Please note, Clark County does not provide H1B visa sponsorships or transfers for any employment positions.

    Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.

    EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

    • Technical support work with a strong emphasis in multimedia applications and experience in scanning, converting one format to another, editing audio and video recordings, bates stamping, and electronic discovery.
    • Travel to various law enforcement agencies within Clark County to gather discoverable material.
    • Work closely with law enforcement and Deputy District Attorneys to ensure that all discoverable material is collected by accessing, and being proficient in, electronic law enforcement databases/applications.
    • After receiving both physical and electronic files, must digitize and transfer all files to the network.
    • Must be able to organize cases in similar fashion to other files.
    • Base level of case familiarity: understanding of what type of evidence to expect (video, phones, audios, specific search warrant record returns). Identify cases with confidential information and mark accordingly.
    • Be able to distinguish discoverable material from non-discoverable material and organize accordingly.
    • Redaction of the information prior to disclosure.
    • Track case files and case progression/ identify when updates on case files are necessary.
    • Identify cases that are likely to have updated discovery from detectives and facilitate transfer.
    • Sort into existing file, keeping specific record of new items that have not yet been discovered.
    • Disseminates discoverable material to the defense and creates a record for the Court of the discoverable items provided.
    • Assist Deputy District Attorney’s with converting discoverable material for presentation in court.
    • Assist and consults with Deputy District Attorneys for the creation of posters, illustrations, visual aids, and other graphic material.
    • May assist in court for video/audio hearings.
    • Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team.


    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    Mobility to work in a legal office setting and use standard office equipment, stamina to remain seating and maintain concentration for an extended period, vision and hearing to edit and covert materials. Hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone.
