What you'll do
- Maintain park grounds by mowing grass, trimming shrubs, and caring for trees, plants, and flowers to keep public spaces healthy and welcoming
- Use mowing equipment, hand tools, and chain saws to safely remove limbs, branches, and overgrowth that could impact park safety or appearance
- Collect and dispose of refuse by emptying receptacles, removing debris, and loading materials to ensure clean, enjoyable park environments
- Support seasonal operations, including snow removal, to keep parks and walkways accessible year-round
- Perform semi-skilled manual work safely and efficiently while following established procedures and daily work plans
- Assist with related maintenance tasks as needed to support overall park and natural resource operations

- High school graduation OR 6 months of experience in general labor
- May be required to possess a valid state-issued driver's license in accordance with City of KCMO policies
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City
- Must have a valid driver's license at time of hire
- Must obtain a Class A CDL by the end of probation

Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
