Regional Government Services and its staff are conducting this recruitment on behalf of the Marin Wildfire Prevention Authority . The Position This is a professional classification that performs a wide variety of responsible, project-based, complex, and analytical work. Responsibilities may include assisting with planning and implementing vegetation treatment projects including, but not limited to, the chipper program, defensible space adjacent to homes and communities, roadside vegetation management, shaded fuel breaks, and prescribed herbivory operations to improve wildfire safety and minimize risks. Incumbents provide field and office support to senior staff during planning and implementation of vegetation management activities. Assignments involve considerable outdoor work, including travel by vehicle and on foot to perform pre-work surveys for nesting birds or other biological resources, manage crews conducting vegetation management activities, and perform any needed monitoring.
This position is anticipated to work in a hybrid fashion, working on-site and remotely. Field activity can be expected when working on-site.

Education:
Equivalent to an associate degree in biology, ecology, environmental studies, environmental planning, natural resource or watershed management, fire ecology, fire science, or a closely related field. Additionally experience as listed below may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Experience:
One (1) year of experience working in biological monitoring or surveying and/or fuels management. Additional relevant coursework as described above may substitute for the required experience on a year for year basis
Supplemental InformationSALARY & BENEFITS- Base Pay: $6,614.00 - $6,845.00 monthly
- Medical (Flat Dollar Amount): $1,900
- Retirement (7.5%): $496.05
- Paid Leave: 80 hours annually
WORK LOCATION & SCHEDULE- Hybrid work environment: combination of remote and in-person work
- Approximately 50/50 split, with flexibility depending on project and seasonal needs
- Fieldwork may require early morning start times
- Regular travel within Marin County for field inspections and project monitoring may be required

The Remote Screen Interview will be conducted via a video conference platform and is tentatively scheduled for mid-May 2026
Oral Board Interview Exam - (100%) Applicants may be selected for consideration to participate in an Oral Board Interview appraisal to evaluate training, experience, and other job-related qualifications for the position. The Oral Board Interview is tentatively scheduled for mid-to-late May. Successful candidates will be placed on a list of qualified candidates.
Successful candidates will be submitted to the Marin Wildfire Prevention Authority for further consideration.
