Job Summary Mohave County Public Works- Traffic Division is looking to fill a Crew leader position located in Kingman, AZ. We are located at 3675 E Andy Devine Ave, Kingman, AZ.Our MissionTo ensure the safe and efficient movement of people and goods throughout the Mohave County road network.
About us
We are responsible for installing and maintaining traffic signs throughout Mohave County. The Division currently maintains approximately 31,000 traffic control devices including regulatory signs, warning signs, guide and street name signs. All of the traffic signs used by the Division are manufactured at the Kingman facility. Signs are manufactured by applying plotter cut vinyl sheeting from a computer based graphic design system. The Division also designs and fabricates the seals, decals, emblems, and Sheriff Stars used by other County Departments and Government agencies.

Crew leader > Salary Range 17 Steps 1-8 $25.65 - $31.55/hr. Special Job Requirement: - Must pass drug screen post offer.
Additional Special Job Requirement as assigned to Traffic Control Division: - Must possess the ability to obtain a valid Commercial Driver’s License within a six (6) month period of hire date.
Essential Job Functions- Work is subject to varying job site assignments and may be subject to call back, overtime, and irregular schedules including completion of work assignments on weekends and holidays.
- Assists in the preparation of performance evaluations; may recommend disciplinary actions; assists in approving time off; prepares work schedules and assignments; oversees the activities of assigned personnel; monitors reports and recordkeeping activities filed by assigned personnel for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to policy and procedure guidelines; instructs personnel in departmental policies, procedures and techniques; and provides training in the safe operation and servicing of required equipment, tools and materials in assigned area.
- Prepares complete, accurate reports, records and logs.
- Operates and utilizes various hand and power tools and equipment appropriate to assigned area.
- Adheres to safety procedures in work areas and in performance of work assignments.
- Cleans, maintains and services required equipment and tools used during performance of work assignments.
- Maintains an adequate supply of materials, equipment and tools required to fulfill work assignments.
As assigned to Traffic Control Division: - Performs same duties and responsibilities as those required of a Sign Technician Senior and Traffic Control Specialist, plus duties that are more difficult and responsible within the Sign Technician series.
- Operates and services a Longline Striper in the performance of work assignments as required.
- Performs maintenance and repair of Electronic Message Boards.
- Schedules and oversees the Special Markings program.
- Oversees maintenance, programming and repairs of Traffic Signals.
Minimum Qualifications- High School diploma/GED (General Education Degree)
- Three (3) years successful experience in the performance of journey or advanced journey level duties and responsibilities associated with the area assigned or when filled from outside.
- Three (3) or more years experience in an assigned area performing applicable journey or advanced journey level work.
- OR an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered in meeting the minimum qualifications.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities- Tools, equipment, materials, techniques, methods, practices and procedures utilized in assigned area.
- Use and care of a variety of equipment and hand and power tools.
- Occupational hazards and safety requirements of chosen trade within assigned area.
- Laws, ordinances, regulations and codes involved in assigned area.
- Principles and practices of leadership, supervision and training.
- Safe, effective operation and maintenance of hand and power tools, equipment, and/or measuring aides used in assigned area.
- Communicating and maintaining professionalism with the public, co-workers, and work contacts.
- Assign, schedule, train, supervise and evaluate work activities and to motivate and control assigned personnel effectively.
- Perform work accurately and in accordance with established standards applicable to assigned area such as, blueprints, diagrams, specifications and oral and written instructions.
- Safely and effectively service, maintain and repair assigned tools and equipment in accordance with standard repair, maintenance, operation, and safety procedures.
- Estimate material quantities and labor hours required to perform and complete work assignments.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date chronological records and documentation.
- Establish and maintain effective work relationships with associate personnel, personnel of other County Departments, other agencies, vendors and general public.
- Fulfill physical requirements of work assignments to include occasional - frequent moderate lifting of 25 - 75 pounds, and operating equipment and performing manual labor in extreme hot or cold temperatures.
