    Role

    Elections Clerk III

    The Yavapai County Elections Department is seeking detail-oriented and dependable individuals to serve as Elections Clerk III for the upcoming election cycles. These seasonal opportunities offer varying work schedules of approximately 20+ hours per week, based on operational needs. These positions will assist with the Primary Election in July and again for the General Election in November. Join our team and play a vital role in supporting accurate, secure, and efficient election processes within our community.
    These are Seasonal positions which are on call or as needed not to exceed 1040 hours per fiscal year.

    Major Duties, Responsibilities

    • Processes and counts Election Day and vote-by-mail ballots
    • Assists poll workers on Election Day with technical operation of voting equipment and/or election procedures.
    • Assists with In-person Early Voting
    • Prepares election supplies and voting machines for use at polling sites.
    • Recruits personnel for elections.
    • Reserves facilities as polling sites for elections.
    • Provides election information to general public.
    • Prepares reports and maintain accurate records.
    • Provides supervisory assistance and guidance on specific assignments.
    • Makes minor repairs on election equipment.
    • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.


    Minimum Qualifications

    Education:
    High school diploma or equivalent.

    Experience:
    A minimum of two (2) years of relevant elections experience.

    Additional Requirements:
    Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license. Must be a registered voter of Yavapai County.

    Knowledge of:

    • Business English, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and composition.
    • Clerical office practices and procedures.
    • Current Microsoft Office software.
    • Filing and recordkeeping.
    Skill in:
    • Communicating effectively verbally and in writing and communicating orally in a face-to-face setting and by telephone with public and employees.
    • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public.
    • Organization and adherence to detail.
    Ability to:
    • Sign a confidentiality agreement.
    • Perform repetitive tasks.
    • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates, employees of other departments, representatives of other organizations, County officials, and the public.
    • Keep management informed of key operating issues affecting the department.
    • Remain current in knowledge required to perform assigned duties.
    • Handle confidential matters and maintain discretion always.
    • Work professionally and effectively with co-workers, clients, victims of crime, witnesses, and the general public.
    • Act with courtesy, tact, and diplomacy.

    Work Environment:
    The work environment is associated with an office. The work area is adequately lighted, heated or cooled and ventilated.

    Physical Requirements:
    Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Sufficient vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech ability to communicate effective in-person and telephonically. Capable of frequent repetitive movement of arms, fingers, and wrists. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
