The PositionBargaining Unit: Local 856 - General Services & Maintenance Unit Contra Costa County's Public Works Department is seeking qualified individuals to fill two (2) Equipment Services Worker vacancies in the Fleet Services Division. Fleet Services supports the Contra Costa County Departments by providing safe, reliable, economical, and environmentally sensible transportation and related services that are responsive to the needs of our customers. The Equipment Services Worker's position is a key service position that performs the bulk of the County’s vehicle and equipment preventive maintenance on a wide variety of vehicles and specialized units. Equipment Services Workers are responsible for inspecting, lubricating, and servicing the County’s equipment and vehicles.
The Contra County Public Works Department (CCPWD) is responsible for the maintenance and operation of over 650 miles of roads, 79 miles of streams and channels, and over 150 County buildings. CCCPWD services include parks and recreation, sandbag distribution, flood control, road and facilities maintenance, and storm water management. CCCPWD operates two airports, Buchanan Field Airport in Concord, and Byron Airport in Byron. Candidates will remain on the established eligible list for six months. Minimum QualificationsLicense Required: Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Out of State valid Motor Vehicles Operator's License will be accepted during the application process.
Experience: One (1) year of full-time experience or its equivalent in the lubrication and servicing or minor maintenance of road construction or automotive vehicles in a full-service automotive service station or center.
Desirable Qualifications: - Possession of Brake and lamp certification
- Possession of ASE brakes certification
- Possession of Forklift operator certification
- Possession of Class B driver’s license with air brake endorsement
- Experience working effectively in team setting
- Relevant technical training or certifications

The exam will measure candidates' competencies as they relate to the job.
