Responsibilities

What you'll do
Street Maintenance District 2: - Operate trucks to support road maintenance and street repair by hauling cold patch, hot asphalt, gravel, rocks, and abrasives
- Drive trucks to transport personnel, tools, and materials to assigned work sites
- Operate trucks used in street-cleaning activities and snow plowing and snow removal operations
- Drive trucks with flat-bed trailers to haul construction equipment and move equipment on and off low-boy units
- Operate construction equipment including bulldozers, rollers, front-end loaders, backhoes, excavators, tractors, chain saws, and spray equipment to support maintenance, mowing, paving, and excavation work
- Perform basic field repairs, service assigned equipment, assist mechanics as needed, and complete related duties as required
Illegal Dumping Abatement: - Drive refuse trucks on established routes to collect trash, recycling, bulky items, yard waste, illegal dumping, and nuisance materials
- Operate packing and dumping controls to ensure safe and efficient collection
- Maintain time records and ensure assigned collection vehicles are properly serviced and maintained
- Perform or assist with waste collection and operate recycling trucks, mowers, tractors, weed eaters, and other related equipment
- Operate trucks used in snowplow operations and work in adverse conditions and locations
- Perform physical work requiring the ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds

What you'll bring
- Experience operating trucks and specialized automotive or construction equipment

REQUIRES - Six (6) months of experience in the operation of trucks and other specialized automotive equipment
- Must possess a valid State-issued driver's license in accordance with City of KCMO policies
- Ability to possess a valid Missouri CDL (Commercial Driver's License) Class A, B, or C prior to the end of the employee's probationary period
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City
- For Illegal Dumping Abatement Division positions, must possess a valid Missouri Class B CDL

Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained. Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.
If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
