    Overview

    The grant-based Public Health Coordinator role has an objective of disease intervention, ensuring the adequacy of treatment for patients and named persons. The role involves clinic-based and field investigations and education of patients regarding treatment adequacy and risk reduction techniques. The Public Health Coordinator is responsible for medical provider education, staff development and training and programmatic operations, including maintenance of workflows and work assignments.

    Responsibilities

    • Conduct disease Intervention, focusing on

    • Educate patients and named people on spread and risk reduction

    • Coordinate with health clinic for treatment and education

    • Meet grant and program metrics

    • Conduct field investigations at patient's residence or place of work

    • Investigate assignments in conjunction with program manager

    • Supervise workflows, including electronic medical record imports to reporting database

    • Monitor physical receipt of lab and medical reports, ensuring review deadlines are met

    • Assign out of jurisdiction work assignments to a local associate for review

    • Approve/disapprove field records and cases that are worked by disease Intervention specialists

    • Provide feedback and direction to disease intervention specialists

    • Train staff regarding Congenital Syphilis concepts, testing algorithms and treatment guidelines

    • Educate medical providers on concepts and testing guidelines

    • Work with providers to conduct training sessions, either offsite or onsite

    • Ensure provider inquiries regarding testing and treatment protocols are addressed

    • Develop presentations and written materials for the purpose of educating providers

    • Actively engage with community-based partners and organizations for knowledge sharing and dissemination

    • Maintain physical inventory of office supplies used by the program

    • Work with purchasing agent to order supplies and monitor usage of program supplies

    • Oversee inventory management and resource allocation throughout the program

    • Acquisition of clinical and office supplies

    • Ensure medications and supplies are safely stored and current

    • Assist in recognizing mechanisms for programmatic improvement and implementation of new guidelines and/or innovations

    • Analyze disease trends to identify areas in need of outreach and attention

    • Create an efficient workplace and help to foster teamwork and morale

    • Work with program manager for program goals and programmatic changes to meet metrics

    • May be asked to perform other duties as assigned

    Position Type and Typical Hours of Work

    • Exempt - Full-Time - Grant Funded
    • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement

    • In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS)

    • 2 (Two) years experience

    Licenses and Certifications

    Required

    • A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

    • Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR and AED / within 6 months of hire

    • Fundamentals of Sexually Transmitted Disease Intervention (FSTDI) training/within 1 year

    • Phlebotomy training/ within 1 year of hire

    Employment is contingent on passing any post-offer pre-employment screening as listed below:

    • Drug Screening: Yes

    • Physical Exam: Yes

    Basis of Rating

    A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications and may request additional information. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
