    Job Summary

    Evaluate student records from other institutions primarily to determine applicability of transfer course work.

    Furthermore, the incumbent provides services that are equitable, inclusive, and culturally sensitive to enhance the quality of campus life. This position uses a student-centered and equity-minded approach in all communication and service efforts.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Evaluation of Student Academic Records - Review file to verify all documents have been received by utilizing PeopleSoft and imaging software. Verify accreditation of post-secondary institutions previously attended. Review course credit system, grading policies, and scholastic standing on transcript.
    • Interpret and Provide Information - Advise students, college counselors, CSULB academic departments, and other sections of Enrollment Services on transfer evaluation, policies/procedures, and degree requirements. Communicate via telephone and/or email regarding the evaluation of students' transfer course work.
    • Maintenance of Resource Materials - Organize and keep current reference materials, including policies and procedures. Create and maintain resources for use in evaluating transferability and GE requirements. Correspond and confer with representatives of other educational institutions as necessary for clarification of policies, course information, grading, etc.

    This is a temporary position for 1 year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.

    Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.
    • Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $4,262 - $5,998 per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.
    • CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $4,262 - $4,300 per month.

    To be eligible for full benefits, employees must be appointed at least half-time (.50 FTE) with an appointment lasting more than six months and one day.     The ideal candidate demonstrates the ability to work independently with minimal direction, possesses strong knowledge of online student information systems, and effectively collaborates with staff, faculty, and students. They accurately interpret and apply academic and administrative policies, provide high-quality customer service with professionalism, empathy, and respect, and uphold the university’s mission and values. They ensure operational continuity by clearly documenting roles and responsibilities and maintain data integrity by adhering to approved processes and testing procedures to ensure accurate, reliable system data.

    Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."

    Equivalent to one year of experience related to academic records evaluation required.

    Physical Summary

    Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects (10 pounds or less).

    Additional Information

    CSULB is not a sponsoring agency for staff and management positions (i.e. H-1B Visas).

    A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSULB will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

    Due to the nature of this position, current CSULB employees are subject to a criminal record check unless they have successfully completed a criminal background check through CSULB within the past 12 months.
