    Position Summary

    **PER DIEM OPENING***

    Position Summary:
    Under supervision, assists Therapists and Assistants by transporting patients to treatment areas, assisting with transfers, preparing treatment rooms for use, setting up equipment, preparing daily charges, and performing other related duties.

    Distinguishing Characteristics:
    This is the entry level in a five level rehabilitation therapy classification series. The Rehabilitation Therapy Technician is distinguished from the Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant in that the Technician is not allowed to work with patients unless they are directly supervised.

    Job Requirement

    Education/Experience:
    Equivalent to graduation from high school and one (1) year of experience in a rehabilitation therapy clinic.

    Licensing/Certification Requirements:
    Some positions may require one or more of the following certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification accepted by the American Heart Association (AHA)

    Additional Position Requirements

    • A minimum of one (1) year of recent, documented experience in an Acute Care Hospital, Acute Rehab or Skilled Nursing Facility


    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Physical Requirements

    Knowledge of:
    Basic hospital services; department and hospital safety practices and principles; patient rights; age specific patient care practices; infection control policies and practices; handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials; department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures.

    Skill in:
    Cleaning and maintaining treatment areas; performing general office duties; using a personal computer for data entry; developing interpersonal relations with a wide variety of people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds under stressful conditions; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties; efficient, effective and safe use of equipment.

    Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
    Mobility to work in a typical clinical setting, including stamina to stand and/or walk for an extended period of time, and strength assist patients; vision to use standard office equipment, read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate effectively in person and over the telephone. Strength and agility to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
