Description: JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY: The Waste Diversion Coordinator performs administrative and hands-on work to maximize waste diversion in internal county operations and facilities. This includes coordinating the collection, evaluation, redistribution, and disposal of county-owned surplus furniture, equipment, and supplies, managing trash and recycle hauling contracts, and recycling programs and education for county staff and visitors. The position ensures all activities comply with county policies, purchasing regulations, accounting principles and environmental standards. This role supports countywide sustainability goals by maximizing reuse, recycling, and responsible disposal of materials.
SCHEDULE: Primarily works in office, with at home work occasionally. This role operates on a Monday-Thurs schedule working up to 40 hours a week. This role is a limited position with an end date expected early 2027 .
Work is performed in office and dock/warehouse environments. The position may require frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting. Some exposure to dust, debris, and warehouse conditions may occur.
COMPENSATION: Hiring Range: $79,800 - $ 90, 227 USD Annually
Compensation will be determined based on education, experience and skil ls.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: - Coordinate the picku p, inv entory, and tracking of su rplus furn iture, equipment, e-waste, and supplies from county Departments, Divisions and Offices .
- Evaluate items for reuse, recycling, donation, auction, or disposal, in accordance with county policy and applicable laws.
- Maintain accurate records of property disposition, including documentation of sales and recycling transactions.
- Procure a nd manag e vendor contracts, i.e. ; recyclers, movers, donations, disposal, etc. and coordinate with internal county departments, divisions and offices to schedule transfers, pickups, and deliveries.
- Explore new solutions for maximizing waste diversion such as an internal asset re-use software, public auctions of surplus materials, and forgi ng partnerships with community-based organizations / non-profits for donations.
- Oversee trash and rec ycling disposal in county facilities including managing vendor contracts, pickup schedules, receptacles and educational materials for building occupants.• Assist with coordination of office relocations, furniture layout and installations, and facility space changes as assigned.
- Prepare periodic reports summarizing surplus activity, recycling/re-use data, and cost savings.
- Promote and support county sustainability initiatives and waste reduction programs.
- Provide customer service and guidance to departments regarding surplus property procedures, available reusable assets, and overall recycling efforts.

Minimum Qualifications:
Experience: Three years related wor k e xper e i e nce
Education: Bachelors Degree

- Ability to lift and move furniture and equipment up to 50 pounds safely.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between county facilities.
Additional Job Information: - A valid Colorado driver’s license is required for positions that drive on County Business in either a county or personal vehicle within 30-days of hire or beginning to serve as an intern or volunteer.
