    The Department of Public Works is responsible for delivering capital improvement projects for a wide variety of City facilities and infrastructure, maintaining City facilities and fleet assets, facilitating, and regulating development activities, and providing animal care and services.     Position Duties

    The Department of Public Works is recruiting to fill one (1) full-time Senior Systems Applications Programmer (Sr. SAP) position to develop technology solutions that will maximize the delivery of City products and services.

    The total salary range for Senior Systems Application Programmer (Sr. SAP) classification is $129,270.96 - $157,182.48.

    This salary range(s) includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. The actual salary shall be determined by the final candidate’s qualifications and experience.

    The primary focus of this Sr. SAP position is to support the development and maintenance of several in-house hybrid systems hosted across both on-premises and cloud environments. This is a 100% individual contributor role responsible for developing solutions, resolving technical challenges, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support departmental and citywide operations, ensuring seamless integration across enterprise applications. This position is required to work on-site.

    Key responsibilities and duties may include but are not limited to the following:
    • Enhance, maintain, and support mission-critical on-premises web applications built with Node.js and Angular, including implementing complex enhancements, troubleshooting cross-layer issues, improving performance and reliability, and ensuring long-term maintainability aligned with evolving business and technical needs.
    • Develop and maintain integrations between on-premises web applications and SaaS platforms such as Smartsheet and SharePoint.
    • Manage enterprise-scale relational databases and develop complex queries to support data analysis, system integration, and reporting needs.
    • Configure and administer Smartsheet solutions, including advanced workflows, reports, and dashboards; provide training and technical support to staff across multiple teams to promote effective adoption and use.

    This position requires a candidate who is actively engaged in hands-on technical work and day-to-day problem solving. The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
    • Strong programming skills in JavaScript or TypeScript.
    • Extensive experience developing responsive web applications using Node.js and Angular, or comparable modern web frameworks.
    • Strong knowledge of relational databases such as Oracle or SQL Server, including database design and development of complex queries.
    • Solid understanding of front-end and back-end application architecture, with the ability to troubleshoot and debug issues efficiently across the stack.
    • Experience designing, developing, and consuming RESTful APIs, with working knowledge of HTTP protocols, authentication methods, and common data formats such as JSON and XML.
    • Experience with Smartsheet, or the ability to quickly learn and apply advanced Smartsheet features with minimal training.
    • Strong technical documentation skills and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical users.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education: A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Public Administration, Computer Technology, Management Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics or a closely related field.

    Experience: Three (3) years of increasingly progressive experience in computer systems applications programming.

    Acceptable Substitution: Additional years of directly related work experience may be substituted for up to a maximum of two (2) years of the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

    Project Management: Ensures support for projects and implements agency goals and strategic objectives.

    Teamwork & Interpersonal Skills: Develops effective relationships with co-workers and supervisors by helping others accomplish tasks and using collaboration and conflict resolution skills.

    Communication: Communicates and listens effectively and responds in an timely, effective, positive and respectful manner; written reports and correspondence are accurate, complete, current; well-organized, legible, concise, neat, and in proper grammatical form responds to statements and comments of others in a way that reflects understanding of the content and the accompanying emotion; asks clarifying questions to assure understanding of what the speaker intended, ensures consistent communication takes place within area of responsibility
    Selection Process:
