    POSITION SUMMARY

    **Salary is based on experience and/or qualifications, and is subject to negotiation**

    Supervises and coordinates the personnel and activities of the Fort Lauderdale Police Department Supply unit. Supervises the receipt, storage, safeguarding, disposal, and inventory control. Safeguards and maintains the integrity of all police supplies and equipment in accordance with state laws, City Ordinances, and departmental policies and procedures.

    This job classification is included within the bargaining unit represented by Federation of Public Employees and therefore is subject to the terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City of Fort Lauderdale and Federation of Public Employees.

    This a Management Category IV position which includes five (5) additional Management Days and a Vehicle Allowance of $120/month.


    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    Essential functions are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation.     • Researches, prepares and provides quotes and bid specifications to maintain and control sufficient stock levels. Solicits and tabulates bids for purchasing needs
    • Oversees daily operation of Police Supply unit by determining work schedules, procedures, tasks and expedites work flow to promote a more efficient and effective operation
    • Prepares and provides information for annual Police Supply budget requests
    • Receives and reviews request for expendable supplies; consults with Police Business Manager to ensure that budgeted funds are available
    • Coordinates the preventive maintenance, repair and replacement of portable radios, fire extinguishers, other equipment and pagers
    • Forecasts, budgets and coordinates ballistic vest fittings and annual replacement
    • Prepares and assists in department wide mobilization for natural disasters, civil disorder, and events by maintaining sufficient equipment to ensure a minimum of twenty-four (24) hours of continued operation
    • Recommends and interviews, in the best interest of the city, eligible applicants to be hired for employment
    • Prepares and administers training programs for subordinate employees; prepares work schedules to ensure adequate shift coverage
    • Assists with Commission Agenda Memo (CAM)
    • Coordinates with City Radio Shop for maintenance and supply of radios and accessories
    • Completes entire Bid Process - to include research, price quotes, purchase request form, and submission for Purchase Order.
    • Performs related work as required


    JOB REQUIREMENTS, PREFERENCES & WORK ENVIRONMENT

    High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalency, andThree (3) years of experience in public safety support activities. Additional qualifying experience or completion of coursework at an accredited college or university in a job-related field, may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience or education.Must have at least one (1) year of supervisory experience. An in-depth employment background check, including a polygraph exam, will be conducted as part of the post offer onboarding process as this position is deemed security sensitive. If claiming Veterans’ Preference, you must attach a copy of the DD214 Member 4 form (or other supporting claim documents) to your on-line application.
    As public servants, employees may be required to work immediately before, during, and/or after an emergency. All employees must be available and able to work assigned shifts as determined by their Department Heads.

    PHYSICAL STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    Employees sit most of the time, but may walk or stand for brief periods of time. The position may involve medium physical demands, such as exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently to move objects.

    The position involves the physical capability to stand, walk, climb, bend, and kneel. Some reaching, handling, sitting, pushing, and pulling will be required. Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact.
