    PH 333: Public Health Communication and Interventions
    • Position: Lecturer
    • Semester: Fall 2026
    • Day/Time: Monday and Wednesday, from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m.
    • Modality: In Person

    The Department of Public Health at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Fall 2026 to teach PH 333 - Public Health Communications and Interventions. The course is a 3-unit class taught over the course of the semester.

    Course Description

    This course provides foundational knowledge on public health communication, related theory, strategies, and application to planning, implementation, and evaluation of public health communication interventions. It explores the use of mass media and digital technology to influence diverse audiences and stakeholders and emphasizes strategic community-based partnerships, cultural influences on messaging, and communication models that are responsive to context and situation of the public health-specific communication needs.

    Minimum qualifications:

    • A Master of Public Health (MPH) or Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH).
    • Experience working with college-level students or teaching in an institution of higher learning.
    • Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with core faculty and colleagues
    • Per the California State University’s Out-of-State Employment Policy, the CSU is prohibited from hiring employees to perform CSU-related work outside California. Working in the State of California is a condition of employment.


    Preferred qualifications:

    • A doctoral degree in Public Health or a closely related field (e.g. PhD, MD, DrPH, ScD, JD, etc.)
    • Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate intercultural competence and a commitment to serving our campus community as it relates to teaching and, as applicable, service.


    Salary commensurate with degree level and experience
    • Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $5,507 - $6,008 per full-time month

    The salary schedule information for the Lecturer - Academic Year Classification is available based on the following ranges:
    • CSU Classification Salary Range Lecturer A - AY: $5,507 - $6,6677 per full-time month

    The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience.
