Responsibilities * Perform testing and inspection of fire alarm systems per NFPA and local code standards, noting existing and potential deficiencies. * Functionally test Initiating Devices, Notification Appliances, and all other peripherals and system components. * Communicate system performance and deficiencies to customers for accurate and efficient quoting of recommended repairs. * Perform under supervision pre-testing and final inspections for assigned projects. * Determine materials needed for repairs and order them. * Perform all duties required to successfully complete projects within estimate and according to specifications. * Respond to service requests, diagnose system malfunctions of fire alarms and adjust, repair or replace equipment as needed to bring into compliance. * Perform under supervision installation of low voltage systems. * Perform under supervision PITCO activities. * Read blueprints and drawing * May require some overtime hours at night, on weekends, and at a moment's notice for emergency calls. * Must be flexible in adapting to changes in priorities, work assignments, and other interruptions that may impact pre-established courses of action for completing or progressing with projects and assignments. Qualifications * A High School diploma or GED with at least 4 years of experience. * Lift at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period. * Relocate a 12-foot stepladder without assistance. * Work at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and all types of ladders. * Walk, climb, lift, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull and reach overhead on a routine and repetitive basis. * Must be able to achieve and maintain security clearance. Desired Skills: * Excellent troubleshooting skills including, researching online, and system manuals to resolve problems * Ability to operate various types of test equipment including audibility and intelligibility test equipment. * Exceptional work ethic and attention to detail * Exceptional communication skills with customers, other field personnel, office staff and sub-contractors. Abilities * Lifts at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period of time. * Relocates a 12 foot stepladder without assistance. * Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and all types of ladders. * Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis. * Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English. * May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools. * Tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem. * Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense. * Combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (including finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events). * See details at close range (within a few feet of the observer). * Listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
