Performs work responsible for the necessary education to meet the minimum qualifications of Firefighter Cadet.
Responsible for performing tasks assigned through written policies and guidelines or verbal orders and directions. These tasks enable the candidate to obtain the knowledge, skills and abilities to move up to the position of Firefighter/EMT. The primary focus and duty of the Cadet is to:
Must be 18 years of age or older.
High School graduate or equivalency is required.
Must possess Missouri Emergency Medical Technician – Basic license within one year from date of employment. (Firefighter Cadets must possess either the EMT-B or FF l & ll certification prior to employment).
Must be certified "Firefighter l and ll" (Missouri/NFPA Standard #1001) within one year of date of employment. (Firefighter Cadets must possess either the EMT-B or FF l & ll certification prior to employment).
**Candidates are required to attach a current resume and copies of all relevant certifications**
Associates degree or higher in a related field.
Hold one or more certifications from the department's List of Additional Certifications.
Salary $47,688 per year (Based on 2,912 hours annually, including scheduled overtime and holiday pay). This position also includes a generous benefits package.
Before final appointment, successful applicant will be required to successfully complete a drug test, background investigation, pre-employment physical and psychiatric evaluation.
