    Summary

    Join our Wastewater Treatment Division as a Performance and Data Analytics Specialist, where you'll collaborate with leaders and subject matter experts to drive environmental and public health outcomes throughout the region. This role offers the perfect blend of technical engagement and hands-on program support across our team of diverse professionals that deliver programs that improve the quality, cadence, and equity of capital delivery.

    Key Responsibilities & Impact

    Build bridges and drive change

    You'll serve as a specialist providing communication facilitation and change management support, bringing teams together to build consensus around performance improvements. Your strong interpersonal skills will help you engage partners across the organization and interpret data into clear, actionable insights that inform understanding about what's working and what needs improvement.

    Create structure for success

    Support performance measurement and reporting by helping administer structured conversations that monitor operational health, productivity and accountability across various wastewater project delivery programs. You'll help supervisors and their teams identify trends, celebrate successes, and identify and address problems through systematic approaches to improve outcomes.

    Partner to support capital programs through data analytics

    Working toward the shared vision of the County's wastewater goals, you'll provide advanced data analytics support for unit programs, collaborating directly with managers and teams across various programs. Success in this area requires strong data analytics capabilities, including experience with and knowledge of data analytics best practices, proficiency in analytics tools such as Power BI and Excel, expertise in data visualization, and skills in data modeling, statistical analysis, and translating complex data into accessible insights.

Not only does it operate around the clock to sustain a healthy environment, but this vital infrastructure also supports economic development that enables our region to thrive. You will have the unique opportunity to work with across all wastewater workgroups and lines of business to help shape how we as a utility adapt and respond to changing regulations and build infrastructure for future generations. You will be a key part of one of King County’s largest, most complex capital programs with a variety of interesting, challenging, and critical projects. You will be supporting the growth and strategic development of the largest capital program in King County with projects and programs stretching across 2200 square miles.

    Job Duties

    What You Will Be Doing:
    • Provide technical support to advance data-informed decision-making and enhance organizational performance management across programs.
    • Serve as a technical expert in developing and maintaining dashboards to communicate key operational metrics that are reported up to senior leadership.
    • Create structure for success by facilitating conversations that monitor operational health, productivity and accountability, helping managers and teams identify trends, celebrate successes, and address problems systematically.
    • Provide on-call data analytics support for programs, leveraging expertise in Power BI, Excel, data visualization best practices, data modeling, and statistical analysis to translate complex data into accessible, actionable insights.


    Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

    Qualifications You Bring:
    • Minimum 2 years of experience supporting process improvements, performance metrics, and management systems
    • Ability to translate data and technical concepts into digestible reports and visuals for decision-makers
    • Minimum of 2 years experience developing reports and dashboard in PowerBI
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex information clearly and persuasively, both in writing and verbally, to diverse audiences

    Supplemental Information

    Working Conditions:
    • Work Location: The Capital Strategy Quality and Standards team works in a hybrid model, with days in the office as well as telecommuting. The ratio of remote to onsite work will be dependent on business needs and is subject to change. The primary onsite location is King Street Center - 201 S Jackson ST, Seattle, WA 98104. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements. King County has a robust collection of tools and resources to support working remotely. The individual selected for this opportunity will join an innovative and progressive team that is redefining how we work as we transition to the department's hybrid environment. Employees will be provided with a County-issued laptop and must maintain a home workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours.
    • Work Schedule: This full-time position works a 40-hour work week. This position is exempt from the overtime provision of the Fair Labor Standard Act (FLSA) and is not overtime eligible.
    • Union Representation: This position is represented by Technical Employees’ Association (TEA) - Wastewater Treatment Division
