    Associate Fire Protection Technician

    Sciens Building Solutions is seeking an experienced Associate Fire Protection Technician to provide programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting capabilities. This position will work closely with our Project Management teams and clients to ensure asound design, and seamless installation and commissioning of our fire protection solutions. Ideal candidates will have manufacturer training, in-house training, and on-the-job experience as it relates to laying out and programming fire protection systems. This is a key position for our growing team and requires attention to detail in all aspects of executing projects. Customer and employee interface require a high degree of effective human relations. Communication skills, both verbal and written are important elements of the position.

    What You'll Be Doing (and Doing Well!)

    • Responsible for reviewing system layouts and coordinating with engineering, project management and sales departments for a successful project execution.
    • Produce field surveys and daily project logs of activity.
    • Responsible for programming, commissioning and final acceptance by customers and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) of complex fire protection systems.
    • Produce detailed commissioning and inspection reports in accordance with NFPA.
    • Responsible for complex troubleshooting and effective resolution.
    • Responsible for delivering projects on schedule and within cost budgets.
    • Responsible for programming systems via laptop computers.
    • Oversight for project inventory and responsible for vehicle inventory.
    • Provide support, guidance, and expertise to the other technicians.

    What We Like About You

    • Up to two years of experience in a technician role within the fire protection environment.
    • Ability to program and commission complex fire protection systems using a laptop computer.
    • Knowledgeable in fire protection code requirements.
    • Ability to read fire protection system design drawings.
    • Customer-focused, skilled in project and people management.
    • Ability to manage job scheduling and job progress in an efficient and cost-effective manner, with a strong focus on quality.
    • Proficient in issue resolution.
    • Excellent organizational, decision-making, and communication skills.
    • Knowledge of fire protection industry and product solutions.
    • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards.
    • Ability to work under tight deadlines and with a sense of urgency.
    • Be physically fit to perform the demanding work of the trade, including frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds, maximum occasional lifting up to 50 pounds; able to work from heights and climb ladders; standing and walking for most of the workday.
    • Ability to travel occasionally overnight, as needed.
    • Able to pass background check and pre-employment drug screening.
    • Valid driver's license & reliable transportation.
