Brethren Village Retirement Community, in Lititz, PA, is seeking part-time
Security Officers These positions are great for those with relevant law enforcement or security experience who want flexible part-time work hours.
Brethren Village's unarmed Security Officers help maintain a safe and secure environment for our Residents, Team Members, and campus visitors. Our Security Officers patrol our large campus - on foot and in a vehicle - in order to protect property, facilities, and those who live and work at Brethren Village.
Security Officers must possess a valid PA driver's license (must have possessed a driver's license for at least the past 2 years), proof of personal auto insurance, and a driving record free from serious or excessive violations including DUI.
Officers must be able to safely walk, run, and climb during their 8-hour shift.Work Schedule- Part-time: 8-hour shifts; typically 16 - 24 hours per week; day, evening, or overnight shift; some Saturdays and Sundays
(Brethren Village offers an extra $1.50 per hour for evening and overnight shifts, and an extra $1.00 per hour for weekend work)RequirementsCore Requirements:- a high school diploma or G.E.D.
- basic computer skills: the ability to access and navigate web sites, and use software, apps, and databases independently
- the ability to complete online training independently
- dependability: ability and willingness to meet attendance standards
- attention to safety: ability and willingness to consistently work in a safe and alert manner, and to report to work fit for duty; commitment to wearing protective equipment as required for the position and adhering to all health and safety standards
- commitment to treating each Resident, Team Member, and member of the Brethren Village community with respect
Additional Requirements for this Position:- at least age 18
- prior, related work experience in law enforcement or security, or relevant formal training in law enforcement
- a basic understanding of law enforcement practices
- current CPR certification or ability to become certified upon hire
- valid PA driver's license (must have possessed a driver's license for at least the past 2 years), proof of personal auto insurance, and a driving record free from serious or excessive violations including DUI
- ability to run if needed; ability to walk throughout the campus during an 8-hour shift; ability to climb stairs
- the ability to quickly and safely assist Residents during emergency evacuations and other emergency situations, including assisting Residents with mobility challenges
- the ability to be outdoors in any type of weather in order to patrol the campus; ability to report to work during inclement weather
- the ability to help safely transfer Residents, using mechanical lifts when necessary
- the ability to calmly communicate with Residents with dementia or other cognitive impairment
- experience de-escalating difficult situations
- the ability to remain calm and direct the activities of others in an emergency situation
- ability to write or type clear and concise reports
- the ability to handle highly confidential or sensitive information in a professional and discrete manner; commitment to keeping Residents' and Team Members' personal information confidential; understanding of HIPAA privacy regulations
