Position Summary
Assigns motor vehicles and drivers to meet daily operational needs for freight transportation.
Major Tasks and Responsibilities
- Sources drivers and equipment to execute operations efficiently.
- Compiles a list of available vehicles and assigns them appropriately.
- Records driver staffing requirements for transportation runs.
- Prepares a list of extra drivers available for assignments.
- Tracks and records all line haul movement in transportation management applications.
- Collaborates with dock operators to plan and move intermodal and purchase transportation loads in a timely manner.
- Distributes the transmittal of load tenders and informational transfer to and with purchase transportation and intermodal providers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business or a related field.
- 5+ years of transportation or dispatch experience.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and transportation management applications.
