Security Officer
Responsibilities
Responsible for safeguarding and protecting residents, staff, and visitors, including, maintaining a visible presence at the front lobby, greeting/checking identification of staff and visitors, performing routine rounds throughout facility, completing and filing incident reports as required, monitoring and responding to computer alarm systems and CCTV systems, and enforcing Pediatric Center rules and safety codes. Excellent customer service and communication skills are used in all aspects of this role.

- Demonstrate consistent, positive attitude with an emphasis on customer service.
- Maintain a visible presence in the front lobby
- Check all employee identification cards.
- Announce all visitors to appropriate host, issue security passes and maintain visitor's log.
- Route incoming telephone calls as needed.
- Coordinate front desk duties with on-duty receptionist.
- Provide overhead announcements, as required.
- Assist Transportation in coordinating drivers for pick-ups/drop-offs, as needed.
- Watch for irregularities (e.g. fire hazards, leaking water pipes, oxygen alarm systems, lights left on, malfunctions of equipment or machinery, unlocked security doors), respond to alarms sound alarms, check alarm systems and report incidents or problems to the appropriate authority and maintain/complete incident reports.
- Perform responsibilities according to facility's Fire Safety Plan.
- Patrol areas and check doors, gates and windows for signs of unauthorized entry.
- Observe and report suspects to police, or apprehend offenders when appropriate and detain them until police arrive.
- Monitor computer alarm systems, Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) systems and communicate by radio with mobile units to attend alarms.
- Detect and report all unlawful acts of employees or patrons of the Pediatric Center.
- Other related duties as may become necessary or as directed by your supervisor, department director and/or administrator.
Qualifications
Education and License/Certifications Requirements:
- High school diploma/trade school diploma or equivalent
- NY State Security License

- 1 year related experience minimum, preferably in a healthcare environment

$21.64 hr to $28.85 hr
