Rigsbee Engineering is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to join our team in our Tustin, CA office. Rigsbee Engineering is a fire protection and structural engineering consulting firm that specializes in fire and building code compliance, systems design, and forensic services.This is a position for an experienced candidate who can perform their own work, and manage deliverables across multiple projects. Along with a strong technical background, we are looking for a highly motivated individual who can drive results. We are a small company that services a diverse client base, with a broad range of FPE services. The right candidate will be comfortable in a fast-paced working environment, and the ability to identify issues and formulate solutions.Responsibilities Perform fire protection engineering services such as life safety code consulting, hazardous material analysis for code compliances, system design, performance-based fire engineering designProvide resolution for design problems that may include performing field investigations or inspections, detailed design work, and detailed checking of design computations done by others, or general coordination of specific design aspects into a projectIdentify applicable codes and standards to reference in evaluating how to respond to inquiries.Conduct and document assigned work such as basic building code analyses, egress analyses, fire detection and alarm systems reviews, smoke control systems reviews, and basic sprinkler and water supply systems reviews, including hydraulic calculations.Apply engineering calculations such as size required, means of egress, maximum allowable building area, sprinkler system water supplies and smoke control equipment.Track hours and submit progress reports to Project Leaders.Effectively communicate with project team members, clients and others.Read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.Responsible self-starter with problem solving and reasoning skills.Work on multiple tasks/projects simultaneously while keeping to deadlines.Qualifications 3-8 years experience in Building Code and Fire Protection ConsultingEngineer In Training (EIT) certificate, PE or FPEBachelor's Degree in Fire Protection Engineering or in similar related field, or equivalentFoundational knowledge in NFPA standards and model codes (e.g. ICC codes) related to building fire safetyFoundational knowledge in hazardous materials evaluation for code compliancesExperience with fire suppression systems and smoke controls systemsExperience with Bluebeam, AutoCAD and RevitCalifornia project experienceAbout Rigsbee Engineering Rigsbee Engineering is a multi-disciplinary consulting firm specializing in fire protection, structural, and forensic engineering.
