Description

  • Provide prevention and detection of criminal activity and safety hazards
  • Provide overall assistance to the school campus community
  • Assist in restraining, apprehending, and escorting disruptive or arrested individuals
  • Patrol all exteriorand interior areas of the campus while ensuring direct interaction with students and district personnel within the assigned jurisdiction
  • Resolve conflict or confrontation between students, district personnel, visitors, or other persons on the assigned campus
  • Report all incidents or criminal activity immediately to the supervisor
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures of the Board of Trustees, the district, and the Police and Security Department.
  • Adhere to existing district and department grooming standards and dress policies at all times for uniformed personnel
  • Attend all scheduled meetings as required by the supervisor
Qualifications
  • Required must be at least 21 years of age
  • Required High School Diploma or GED
  • Required Texas Department of Public Safety Level III Security License
  • Willing to undergo a criminal background check, psychological exam, medical exam, and drug screening
  • Ability to perform responsibilities with minimum supervision
  • Demonstrate firearm proficiency by passing the Dallas ISD pistol qualification course
  • Composure to de-escalate conflict situations
  • Knowledge of relevant security equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective school security operations for the protection of people, data and property
  • Competency to deal sensitively and fairly with people from diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Ability to effectively interface with students, parents, and all levels of District personnel in writing and verbally
  • Able to maintain the confidentiality of information
  • Training and ability to subdue offenders, including the use of firearms and handcuffs
  • Organizational, prioritization, communication, and interpersonal skills are required to achieve the goals of the position
  • Must be computer literate and willing to attend training sessions
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) is a preferred
