Job Description: This role will issue permits to qualified applicants.
Examples Of Duties:
- Processes minor permits such as ROW, Encroachment Agreements, roof, paint, etc.
- Greets customers and directs traffic to the appropriate processors.
- Answers and returns calls and emails from the Development and Construction Services mainline as well as the front desk phone.
- Handles all status updates and general inquiries.
- Questions applicants to obtain information such as name, address, and age, and records data on prescribed forms.
- Evaluates information obtained to determine applicant qualification for licensure.
- Contacts customers if there are any problems during the permitting and licensing process.
- Responds to contractors' inquiries about permissions granted by Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation licensure.
- Responds to inquiries regarding permit requirements and processes.
- Maintains files and logs of permits issued and provides statistical information on permits.
- Create reports to identify delinquent accounts.
- Creates and updates department applications and forms.
- Creates Caps reports as needed and fulfills requests for information from GovQA and FOIA.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- Associate's degree (AA/AS); and six months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Word, and Excel (including the ability to create spreadsheets using formulas).
- Ability to type a minimum of 35 words per minute by touch.
Preferred Qualifications:
- ICC Permit Technician Certification
Other Necessary Requirements:
- May require evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
- In the event of major storms or other emergency situations, this position may be subject to 24-hour shifts or any other emergency schedule that is necessary to meet the City's needs.
