    Pay Range: $26.10-$39.82 per hour
    Work Location: 5310 Municipal Ave
    Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

    What you'll do
    • Inspect, repair, and maintain electrical systems and equipment to ensure continuous, safe operation of public infrastructure.
    • Install, repair, and maintain control wiring on pumps, valves, fans, motor starters, main switchgears, and related equipment to support reliable system performance.
    • Perform maintenance and repair on specialized lighting and power systems, including remote controls, distribution panels, direct current generators, switchboards, and other related electrical equipment.
    • Complete electrical work on remote control systems such as intake sluice gate motors, ensuring accurate operation and system responsiveness.
    • Install control switches in control room bench boards and install stand-by station service transformers to support operational continuity.
    • Use standard and specialized electrical tools and instruments, including voltmeters, ammeters, power-factor meters, synchroscopes, and frequency meters, and assist Electronic Technicians as needed.

    REQUIRES
    • High school graduation and 3 years of progressively responsible experience performing routine and moderately complex electrical maintenance and repair work; OR an equivalent combination of qualifying education and experience.
    • Must possess a valid state-issued driver's license in accordance with City of KCMO policies.
    • May be required to possess a valid MO Class A, B, or C CDL prior to the end of the probationary period as determined by the department.
    • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City.
    • Preference given to those with any prior Public Works experience.

    Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

    The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
    For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
    Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

    If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
