Fire Protection Engineer, SeniorJob Number: R0241498ResponsibilitiesProvide technical and programmatic fire protection, life safety, and occupational safety and health support to Federal clients.Deliver engineering services to architects, developers, owners, and government clients.Review and analyze proposed fire protection and life safety equipment and design changes to determine code compliance.Serve as subject‑matter expert and representative of the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) in development of Statements of Work (SOWs) and design and construction proposals.Develop performance‑based design analyses utilizing fire protection engineering principles, code analyses, advice from AHJ, and other available resources.Provide engineering reviews of shop drawings, conduct construction oversight and inspection, field surveys, and systems acceptance testing for life safety systems.Participate in project meetings to provide progress oversight, coordinate prioritization of work related to construction, and recommend resolutions for issues encountered by construction trades.Evaluate existing building and life safety system conditions through code compliance, life safety, and fire hazards analysis surveys.Develop technical reports detailing fire prevention and protection issues, compliance findings, required code revisions, remedial work, and gaps in facility procedures and practices.Review deliverables of junior engineers and provide feedback, mentoring, and training.Qualifications10+ years of experience in fire protection engineering and a Professional Engineer (PE) license.Experience in healthcare settings.Experience applying fire protection and life safety requirements to design reviews of facilities, systems, and equipment.Experience conducting on‑site audits and assessments for compliance and generating associated reports.Experience with FP/LS codes for healthcare facilities, including NFPA 99, The Joint Commission, UFC 3‑600‑01, and UFC 3‑601‑02.Experience with Federal government agencies such as EPA, VHA, DoD, and FAA.Comprehensive knowledge of major NFPA and FP/LS codes and standards (NFPA 101, 13, 25, 70, 72, 75, 90A).Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination.Master's degree.Nice If You HaveExperience with OSH regulatory and consensus standards such as 29 CFR 1910, 1926, 1960, NFPA 70, 70E, and 101, and enterprise‑level OSH policies.Experience with fire suppression and detection systems design.Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification.Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) certification.Commitment to Non‑DiscriminationAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to disability, status as a protected veteran or any other status protected by applicable federal, state, local, or international law.#J-18808-Ljbffr
