DescriptionDeputies in the patrol division have the responsibility to provide law enforcement services by handling calls and patrolling the unincorporated areas of Miami County. Deputies also provide the primary law enforcement duties through agreements and contacts to the Village of Bradford, Village of Pleasant Hill, Village of Laura, Village of Fletcher, Village of Casstown, Bethel Township, and the Miami County Park District. Deputies can also be called upon to assist Sheriffs in other counties during emergencies.Deputies can be assigned to:Patrol / Traffic EnforcementDetective SectionCourt Service /Inmate TransportsSchool Resource OfficerSpecial Response Team (Tactical)Crisis NegotiatorEvidence TechnicianPark District Deputy/Bike patrolCrash ReconstructionK9 DeputySalary InformationStarting pay can range between $29.50 and $36.65 an hour depending on experience. Under the current contract, the top pay for a Deputy is $36.65 an hour.Lateral EntryA $5,000 Employment Grant is awarded at the time of appointment for those who are Ohio Peace Officer certified. The starting pay rate for lateral hires is commensurate with years of full-time service.Testing ProcessUpon completion of the initial application you will receive an email with further instructions on completing the application process and scheduling testing through National Testing Network, Inc. Upon completion of the entry-level exam, all candidate scores are automatically forwarded to the MCSO. Candidates who attain a passing score will be placed on the department's eligibility list.
