Position Summary We are seeking a Loss Control Consultant to support commercial lines accounts in the Maryland, Delaware, and Philadelphia area. The role involves conducting on‑site loss control surveys and virtual consultations to evaluate operations, identify hazards, and recommend solutions that reduce risk and improve safety. Collaboration with insureds, underwriting, claims teams, and agents provides expert guidance on potential loss sources, reduces incurred losses, and strengthens risk management programs. Core duties include assessing safety programs, delivering training, and preparing detailed reports to assist underwriting decisions.Responsibilities Complete required reports and documentation for account visits to aid underwriting staff.Visit account facilities to understand operations, hazards/exposures, and safety program effectiveness.Determine compliance and evaluate safety programs against OSHA, NFPA, DOT, ANSI, and other codes.Conduct agency visits to promote loss control services and initiatives.Provide loss control consulting for written accounts, applying safety principles to reduce hazards.Perform basic industrial hygiene and health surveys, such as noise and ergonomic assessments.Attend branch large loss meetings and other meetings requiring loss control expertise.Develop, submit, and discuss recommendations with customers to improve conditions.Implement various projects requested by the Home Office Manager or Team Leader, including vendor loss control work within assigned territories.Qualifications Bachelor's degree in safety, science, engineering or related field preferred.Continuing education such as Associate in Loss Control Management (ALCM), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), and certifications such as ASP, CSP, CIH or OHST preferred.Minimum one year of experience in property/casualty loss control, conducting surveys, and some consulting work on written accounts.Proficient technical knowledge of loss control/safety across all commercial lines and programs.In-depth knowledge of operational practices for industrial, construction, institutional, commercial, educational, and habitational occupancies.Good understanding of commercial insurance coverages.Strong organizational and time‑management skills.Basic training and presentation skills.Excellent customer service, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.Good PC skills, especially Microsoft Office Suite.Job Requirements (ADA) Primarily a sedentary position with occasional standing and walking.Must see and use a computer monitor effectively.Must operate a computer, keyboard, printers and other general office equipment.Must access and enter information accurately using automated systems.Must hear and communicate via telephone or monitoring devices.Must present information to individuals and groups.Must interpret and apply concepts that may or may not be based on established guidelines.Must maintain acceptable attendance and adhere to scheduled work hours.Must have a valid driver's license and be able to operate a motor vehicle.Must be able to travel with overnight stays required.Compensation and Benefits Salary range: $64,987.67 - $89,357.40, depending on experience.Generous 401(k) match, graded profit sharing, incentive compensation, and comprehensive benefits package.Flexible scheduling and hybrid work options.Employee recognition programs.Continuing education support and tuition reimbursement.Professional development opportunities.Travel Position requires frequent travel, including occasional overnight stays, throughout the Maryland, Delaware, and Philadelphia territory.Equal Opportunity Employer We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, creed, birth, age, disability, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, pregnancy, veteran status or any other characteristic protected by law, consistent with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and EEOC guidance.
