Health, Safety and Security Manager, Global OperationsBOSTON, MA – Full‑time / Regular position. Salary range: $61,200.00–$82,700.00.Position SummaryThe Health, Safety and Security (HSS) Manager is an integral part of the Global Programs Health, Safety, and Security team, supporting international travel by the BU community through constant monitoring and analysis of international security and risk conditions, training development and delivery, incident response and crisis management. The HSS Manager reports to the Managing Director, Global Partnerships and Support, and works closely with the Associate Director of Health, Safety and Security and other team members in Global Programs.Key ResponsibilitiesHSS Travel Risk Management System Administration (25%)Manages the Travel Risk Management System, including oversight of global travel registration, uploads, distribution of information to the community, and traveler support.Handles access, data, reports, alerts and related processes for seamless operation.Maintains and improves the tool for user ease of use and reporting needs, producing regular and ad‑hoc reports.Acts as primary contact and liaison with the system vendor for service issues, upgrades, etc.Prepares reports and briefings on travel registration as needed.HSS Risk Monitoring and Reporting (25%)Contributes to monitoring of world events and international health, safety and security conditions that may impact BU activities abroad.Works with student organizations and other units to plan and execute safe international activities.Travels periodically to conduct Study Abroad health and safety site assessments.Provides administrative support to the Global Travel Risk Assessment Committee (GTRAC).Maintains data on incidents abroad and prepares reports, identifying and monitoring trends in incidents affecting BU travelers.Training and Outreach (30%)Assists in the development, implementation and communication of Health and Safety policies/procedures.Responds to questions related to policies and procedures.Develops training and multimedia materials for disseminating and tracking Health, Safety and Security tools.Delivers health, safety and security training to students, faculty and staff in‑person and digitally.Participates in outreach to provide pre‑travel support.Participates in professional organizations and attends conferences as needed.Incident Response and Crisis Management (20%)Staffs an emergency phone on a rotating basis for emergencies involving BU travelers abroad.Serves on the Safety Management Team and acts as incident commander or other required roles.Works with the Associate Director and the Safety Management Team to ensure Boston University's response to overseas emergencies is carried out appropriately and efficiently, and after‑action meetings and reports are completed timely.Required SkillsBA/BS required, graduate degree preferred.3-5 years of professional experience in international education, international risk management, or student life.Experience working directly with undergraduates preferred.Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products or other analytical tools and databases, including Excel, SharePoint, OneNote and Teams.Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Strong analytical, problem‑solving and project‑management skills.Proactive and results‑oriented.Willingness to travel on short notice if necessary.Legal StatementWe are an equal opportunity employer, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, natural or protective hairstyle, religion, sex, age, national origin, physical or mental disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, genetic information, military service, pregnancy or pregnancy‑related condition, or because of marital, parental, or veteran status.
