Position Description
Employees in this classification provide patient care management to an assigned clinic in the areas of clerical and clinical duties. In the clinical setting, the employee receives direct supervision from a physician or nursing supervisor in either oral or written form. In the office setting, the employee receives direct supervision from the department administrator. Work is performed under usual office and clinic conditions, and may be stressful when working under emergency conditions.
Major/Essential Functions
- Takes accurate vital signs and intake information from patients at each appointment and documents information accurately and in a timely manner.
- Attends staff meetings and completes annual competencies.
- Maintains inventory.
- Willingness to float to other clinics in need.
- Assist nursing and providers with all needs that encompass the scope of practice.
- Report to nursing and providers the needs of patients.
- Assist RN with prior authorizations for radiology scans and surgeries.
- Assist RN with management of internal and external referrals.
Required Qualifications
A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent. Graduation from an approved certified program for assistants in the area of required specialty. Certification by an approved accredited certifying agency in the specialty in which the particular work will be performed.
