Job Title

Serves and executes warrants and other processes issued for the Municipal Court. Requires:

  • Certified Peace Officer Certification
Essential Functions
  • Serve and execute warrants;
  • Arrest persons; explain their legal rights and take them into custody;
  • Refer to local directories and contact various public agencies, utility companies, and merchants in attempting to locate subjects;
  • Maintain records and files;
  • Return prisoners from out-of-town to enter pleas in court;
  • Transport arrestees from other agencies;
  • Perform related duties as directed.
Qualifications

Completion of a high school diploma or the equivalent with an additional six months of responsible work involving public contact; or any combination of relevant education and experience which provides the following:

Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge of:

  • Learn the elementary principles of the laws of arrest and custody;
  • Learn Municipal Court procedures;
  • Understand oral and written instructions;
  • Deal tactfully and firmly with the public;
  • Communicate effectively with the others.
Physical Requirements:
  • Frequently lift and carry up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasionally stand and walk during the shift.
  • Coordinate eye, hand, and foot movement in order to operate a vehicle.
