Job Title
Serves and executes warrants and other processes issued for the Municipal Court. Requires:
- Certified Peace Officer Certification
Essential Functions
- Serve and execute warrants;
- Arrest persons; explain their legal rights and take them into custody;
- Refer to local directories and contact various public agencies, utility companies, and merchants in attempting to locate subjects;
- Maintain records and files;
- Return prisoners from out-of-town to enter pleas in court;
- Transport arrestees from other agencies;
- Perform related duties as directed.
Qualifications
Completion of a high school diploma or the equivalent with an additional six months of responsible work involving public contact; or any combination of relevant education and experience which provides the following:
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of:
- Learn the elementary principles of the laws of arrest and custody;
- Learn Municipal Court procedures;
- Understand oral and written instructions;
- Deal tactfully and firmly with the public;
- Communicate effectively with the others.
- Frequently lift and carry up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Occasionally stand and walk during the shift.
- Coordinate eye, hand, and foot movement in order to operate a vehicle.
