Must maintain composure and exercise sound judgment during high-stress and emergency situations, react quickly and calmly to evolving threats, and effectively multitask while performing security and enforcement duties. The position requires prolonged standing, continuous situational awareness, adherence to established emergency response procedures.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesSecure court buildings and court property and conduct security screening of all visitors entering the courthouse.Operate and monitor magnetometers, X‑ray machines, and other screening equipment at courthouse entry points.Respond quickly and appropriately to alarms, security breaches, or other incidents affecting courthouse safety.Operate two‑way radio, public address (PA) systems, and other communication equipment to coordinate with court staff and other law enforcement personnel.Intervene in potentially problematic situations to de‑escalate conflict, prevent violence, and minimize disruptions to operations.Summon additional law enforcement or emergency services as necessary.Provide armed security services and carry firearms and other authorized equipment in accordance with Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES), departmental policy, and applicable laws.Perform other duties as assigned.Minimum QualificationsMust be Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) certifiable.High school diploma or equivalency.Candidates must be 18 years of age.Possess a valid Michigan driver's license.Ineligible: a felony conviction, pending felony or misdemeanor charge, domestic violence conviction, or any outstanding warrant.VeteransVeterans are encouraged to apply: please provide your joint services transcript with your application.Additional InformationTo view the collective bargaining agreement, visit and click on Current Contract under Deputies Association.#J-18808-Ljbffr
