Job Summary Assigns work for Company and owner operator trailer drivers for conveyance of freight by performing the following duties.Essential Duties & Responsibilities Compiles and maintains list of available drivers.Assigns trucks according to availability, purpose of trip, and freight.Issues record sheets, and all related paperwork to drivers.Troubleshooting and notifying appropriate parties of any changes.Records time of departure, destination, cargo, and expected time of return.Investigates overdue vehicles.Directs activities of drivers by two‑way radio.Confers with customers to expedite or locate missing, misrouted, delayed, or damaged merchandise.Heavy communication with drivers on a daily basis.Supervisory Responsibilities This job has no supervisory responsibilities.Competencies Judgment: Exhibits sound and accurate judgment, supports and explains reasoning for decisions, includes appropriate people in decision‑making, and makes timely decisions.Safety and Security: Observes safety and security procedures, determines appropriate action beyond guidelines, reports potentially unsafe conditions, and uses equipment and materials properly.Attendance/Punctuality: Is consistently at work and on time, ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent, and arrives at meetings and appointments on time.Dependability: Follows instructions, responds to management direction, takes responsibility for own actions, and commits to long hours of work when necessary to reach goals. Completes tasks on time or notifies an appropriate person with an alternate plan.Qualifications Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Language Skills: Spanish fluency required. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; to write simple correspondence; and to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract two‑digit numbers and to multiply and divide with tens and hundreds; perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions; ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.Computer Skills: Knowledge of Excel Spreadsheet software, MS Word Processing software, and MS Outlook.Other Skills and Abilities: Must be fluent in Spanish for communication with the driver and owner operators.Physical Demands The employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear; occasionally walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; lift and/or move up to 10 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
