Responsibilities:Conduct roll call; monitor officers on duty; instruct and explain rules, regulations, and procedures.Assist in non-routine problems.Make sanitation, safety, and security inspections of all buildings, building contents, grounds, and vehicles and correct or report shortcomings or deficiencies.Assign specific duties to subordinate officers to ensure cleaning of buildings, grounds, etc.Properly supervise and control inmates in the wards, recreation area, and on special detail.Supervise and verify the accuracy of scheduled formal counts; make informal counts when required.Assist in special investigations and make recommendations to supervisor.Evaluate officers' duty performance; instruct and counsel officers in required duty performance.Must successfully complete eight (8) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:A high school diploma and relevant experience.
