Security & Gate Guard

Location: Midland, TX, 14 days on, 7 days off
FLSA Class: NON-EXEMPT
Responsible to: DISTRICT MANAGER
Position Summary
The Gate/Security Guard is responsible for controlling access to the laydown yard while ensuring the safe and efficient flow of vehicles, equipment, employees, contractors, and visitors. This position would provide direction to drivers and personnel entering and exiting the facility, maintain security protocols, monitor site activities, and serve as a key point of contact for operational coordination.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Control and monitor access to the company's property, verifying credentials and maintaining access logs
- Conduct regular patrols of interior and exterior areas to identify security risks or unsafe conditions
- Monitor surveillance systems, alarms, and security equipment; respond to alerts promptly
- Enforce facility security policies, procedures, and visitor protocols
- Perform bag checks, badge checks, and escort visitors, contractors, and vendors as required
- Respond to security incidents, emergencies, and disturbances in accordance with established procedures
- Document incidents, irregularities, and daily activities through detailed reports
- Coordinate with staff, management, and emergency responders as needed
- Support compliance with regulatory, client, and corporate security requirements
- Maintain a professional and customer-service-oriented presence at all times
- Providing direction to drivers and personnel on-site
- Maintaining security protocols and site safety expectations
- Tracking arrivals and departures as needed
- Communicating with managers and supervisors to resolve issues
Other Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Ability to work 14 days on, 7 days off
- Strong communication skills, sound judgment, professionalism, and the ability to act quickly in a fast-paced environment will be essential for success in this role. The individual selected should be dependable, attentive, and capable of working independently while coordinating effectively with management and operations personnel.
- Prior security experience or law enforcement preferred
- Basic computer skills for access systems, reporting, and monitoring tools
- Ability to follow strict procedures and maintain confidentiality
- Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs as required
- Willingness to work shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime
- Ability to work in a secure, controlled-access environment
