Job Description

We are currently hiring full time, seasonal Security Door Staff at the Sam Adams Downtown Taproom in Boston, MA.

As a member of the security staff, your responsibility is to provide direct physical security to staff,patrons, and brewery assets, while promoting a positive, safe, and enjoyable environment for all guests.

What You'll Brew:

  • Welcome every guest in a warm and inclusive manner, while serving as an enthusiastic first and last impression of the brewery to all guests
  • Work with management to identify and address potential safety risks throughout the brewery
  • Become familiarized with all policies for guests and ensure that we are in compliance within the terms of our C.U.P and local laws at all times
  • Ensure that no intoxicated persons or un-accompanied minors enter the premises
  • Maintain cleanliness and order along the street, including sweeping as needed, and directing vendors and performers to their proper locations
  • Removing any guest who is being disruptive and/or exhibiting clear signs of being visibly intoxicated, all while using good judgment, clear communication, and professionalism throughout
  • Tracking the number of guests entering and exiting the location as needed and implementing an orderly door wait once capacity is reached
  • Greet any guests with reservations, special events and/or picking up keg(s), before then notifying the Manager on duty about their arrival
  • Follow all steps of procedure as outlined in the security plan
Working Conditions:
  • Manage the ever-changing environment with customers arriving and leaving
  • Ability to recognize and manage conflict
  • Work overtime as needed which may require 12-hour days, weekends, and holidays
  • Bar atmosphere, loud, warehouse conditions
What Ingredients You'll Bring:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • CPR/First Aid Certified desired
  • Active Guard Card Certification (within 6 months of start date - California only)
  • Previous security/door staff experience desired
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs, sometimes repeatedly
  • Regular walking and standing for long periods of time (up to 11 hours a day) on concrete, metal and grated surfaces
  • While performing the duties of this role, it may be required to climb flights of stairs, work from heights or on elevated platforms
  • Agile enough to step over, crouch or crawl under
  • Established dexterity to:
    • Handle materials
    • Operate equipment
    • Interface with computer systems with precision
    • Ability to pour, pick up a glass, deliver beverages to customers
    • Ability to handle kitchen and service equipment
    • While performing the duties of this role, it may be required to climb flights of stairs, work from height or on elevated platforms
    • Established dexterity so you can handle materials, operate equipment and interface with computer systems with precision*
    • Able to be on your feet for 8 hours at a time. Be able to move 160lbs
Job Level: 10IC

In accordance with pay transparency laws the pay rate for this role if hired is $21.50 per hour. However, it's important to note that where the person hired starts in this range is dependent on their related experience, skillset and location.
