The Office emphasizes proactive monitoring, consistent regulatory enforcement, and transparent reporting. Its operations are designed to uphold compliance standards, swiftly address violations, and maintain trust and accountability within Louisiana's regulated community.Incumbents perform advanced technical inspections of jurisdictional intrastate pipeline facilities. Three categories of intrastate pipeline facilities regulated and inspected by the Office include: (1) gas distribution pipelines, (2) gas transmission and gathering pipelines, and (3) hazardous liquid transmission and gathering pipelines. Inspectors may assess 1–3 categories of intrastate pipeline facilities in their area of responsibility.An Ideal Candidate Should Possess the Following CompetenciesCommunicating Effectively: Convey information, ideas, and emotions using structured communication methods that promote understanding and engagement.Demonstrating Accountability: Take ownership of actions, behaviors, performance, decisions, and outcomes.Making Accurate Judgments: Assess options, weigh risks, and make sound decisions using available information and logical reasoning.Minimum QualificationsThree years of experience in petroleum exploration, petroleum production, petroleum gas and/or anhydrous ammonia handling or distribution, natural resources regulation, natural resources enforcement, law enforcement, or investigatory work; orA bachelor's degree in a biological science, physical science, natural science, geoscience, engineering, environmental science, mathematics, or nuclear science.Job DutiesPerform on‑site inspections of complex jurisdictional gas and hazardous liquid pipeline systems and related facilities, and intrastate pipeline facilities.Conduct exit interviews to discuss findings of inspections with facility representatives and provide guidance during discussions.Collect and review preliminary data required for on‑site inspections; conduct quality assurance audits of data, records, and other information to determine accuracy, completeness, and proper documentation.Complete inspection reports; recommend compliance actions for probable violations; attend meetings in Baton Rouge or other locations to discuss citations and regulatory requirements.Conduct unannounced site visits to operator facilities in the assigned area of responsibility to evaluate conditions of pipeline facilities.Review specific regulation inquiries from pipeline operators; attend staff meetings to discuss department policy and regulatory updates.Assist with training of new employees and support experienced inspectors.Provide data and assistance in the preparation of reports requested by the department, office or other agencies.Appointment and CompensationAppointment Type: Probational. Career Progression: Conservation Enforcement Specialist 1, 2, or 3. Work Schedule: Flexible hours. Salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience.LocationThis position is located in Northeast Louisiana, with work performed in Bienville, Caldwell, Catahoula, Claiborne, Concordia, East Carroll, Franklin, Jackson, LaSalle, Lincoln, Madison, Morehouse, Ouachita, Richland, Tensas, Union, Webster, and West Carroll Parishes.
