Position Overview UNCLASSIFIED EXEMPT POSITION – SOLICITOR GENERAL DEPARTMENT. This role performs professional investigative work for the Office of the Solicitor General, assisting in the resolution of cases and the successful prosecution of offenders. The position supports assigned Assistant Solicitors before, during, and after criminal prosecutions and requires a high level of complexity, supervision, and guidance.Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in any discipline required, supplemented by three years of experience in law enforcement or investigative fields, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities.License or Certification Required Valid Georgia Driver's LicenseGeorgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Basic Law Enforcement (BLE) CertificationKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities Proficiency in federal, state, and local criminal laws and statutes; court rules and procedures; and investigative techniques.Understanding of the metropolitan Atlanta geography.Interpersonal and communication skills for interviewing, interrogating, persuading, and interacting with victims, witnesses, and other stakeholders.Ability to apply county or departmental policies, practices, and procedures.Essential Functions Assist assigned Assistant Solicitors in conducting investigations and preparing cases for trial: review case files, identify investigative tasks, draft and execute search warrants or court orders, collect, secure, and analyze evidence, and testify in court.Identify, locate, serve subpoenas, and ensure court appearances of complainants, suspects, and witnesses; coordinate accommodations and schedules for court appearances.Transport and provide security for attorneys, victims, victim advocates, and witnesses, including courtroom security and escorting to and from trial.Provide assistance and advocacy to victims: update on case status, offer resources and referrals, and provide information.Engage in investigative activities that involve risk and/or danger, such as undercover assignments, crime scene response, raids, arrests, interrogations, and surveillance.Serve on multidisciplinary teams, task forces, or other special assignments.Act as a departmental coordinator or instructor for programs related to investigations operations, such as POST Certified Firearms Instructor, Terminal Agency Coordinator (TAC), or management of DUI video footage library.Communicate and collaborate with law enforcement, victims, witnesses, judges, attorneys, court personnel, and the public to gather information, coordinate investigative efforts, and raise public awareness.Prepare, gather, review, compile, and process investigative documents: incident reports, licenses/permits, protective orders, criminal and driver histories, crime lab reports, 911 dispatch transcripts, medical records; draft investigative reports, case summaries, subpoenas, search warrants, evidence requests, and related documents.Stay current on criminal investigative techniques, crime trends, courtroom procedures; attend seminars, training courses, obtain certifications, and conduct firearms practice drills.Operate or use equipment, tools, firearms, and supplies: duty weapon, vehicle, cameras, radios, surveillance equipment, computers, and general office equipment.Additional Functions Perform other related duties as required.Veterans' Preference Qualifying veterans receive a guaranteed invitation to interview for any position to which they have applied and meet the minimum qualifications.
