As a Senior Engineering Designer / Project Engineer track professional, you will be entrusted with engineering calculations, system design, and multidisciplinary coordination with minimal supervision—functioning as a key driver in delivering code-compliant, high-performance building systems.This role goes beyond production—it requires a professional who can think critically, make independent engineering decisions, and guide both design direction and junior staff development . You will be actively involved in shaping system solutions from concept through construction while working closely with project leadership, clients, and internal teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.Core ResponsibilitiesPerform engineering calculations and independently design HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, electrical, or structural systems based on project requirementsDevelop system layouts and design solutions in accordance with codes, standards, and firm proceduresLead discipline-specific engineering tasks with minimal supervision and exercise independent technical judgmentCoordinate with Project Managers and Project Engineers on scope, budget, schedule, and phasing requirementsEstimate discipline-specific man-hours and contribute to project planning and resource allocationAssign and supervise work for junior designers and technicians to ensure timely and accurate deliveryProduce complete construction documents aligned with client expectations and engineering standardsReview drawings across all disciplines for coordination, constructability, and complianceConduct quality control reviews to ensure accuracy, completeness, and technical integrityParticipate in client coordination meetings and represent engineering solutions professionallyMentor and train Engineering Designers at junior and mid levelsSupport continuous improvement of design standards, workflows, and technical practicesRequired QualificationsBachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Fire Protection, Structural, or Architectural EngineeringMinimum 6-10 years of engineering design experience in building systems (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, electrical, or structural)OR Associate degree with 10+ years of relevant design experience under PE supervisionOR 11+ years of progressive practical engineering design experience (discipline-specific)Strong knowledge of building codes and engineering standardsProficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft OfficeRevit proficiency preferredStrong communication skills (written and verbal)Ability to manage deadlines in fast-paced project environmentsStrong problem-solving and critical thinking abilityPreferred QualificationsEIT certification (preferred)Experience progressing toward or supporting PE-level responsibilitiesPrior leadership or mentoring experience with junior engineers/designersExperience in multidisciplinary building systems coordinationStrong familiarity with construction documentation and QA/QC processesExperience working in commercial, healthcare, or institutional projectsAbout Cuhaci & PetersonCuhaci & Peterson is a multidisciplinary engineering and architecture firm specializing in integrated building systems design across commercial, retail, healthcare, and institutional markets.
