Position OverviewThe Brevard County Sheriff's Office is hiring a Court Services Deputy responsible for maintaining law and order in and around the courtroom, ensuring the protection and safety of all persons present, expediting courtroom proceedings, and following directives from the judge. This position is directly hired into the Court Services Unit and requires completion of the unit's specific training program.ResponsibilitiesMaintain law and order within the courtroom and surrounding areas.Ensure protection and safety of all persons present.Prepare the courtroom to facilitate timely proceedings.Ensure prisoners appear promptly in court.Follow directives from the judge and court staff.Attend and complete Court Services Unit training.Work flexible hours, including evenings, natural disasters, weekends, and holidays as needed.QualificationsCurrently certified by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement or enrolled in an equivalent training program.At least 20 years of age.Valid Florida Class E Driver's License, maintained throughout employment.FDLE Medical Clearance and successful completion of psychological and polygraph examinations.Adherence to the BCSO drug use policy (no controlled substance use within the past 1 year for marijuana or 3 years for other illegal drugs).Compliance with the BCSO Body Ornamentation/Tattoo Policy (specified tattoo restrictions).Pass a Physical Abilities Test.Completion of the Brevard County Sheriff's Office Patrol Field Training Program required for off‑duty sworn duties.BenefitsRecruitment bonus up to $5,000 for newly certified officers and out‑of‑state law enforcement officers moving to Florida.Potential for starting pay above the minimum salary based on years of service.Legal InformationThe Brevard County Sheriff's Office is an Equal Opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy), gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, age (over 40), disability, or genetic information in employment practices.
