Department: EducationStatus (Exempt or Non-Exempt): Non-Exempt, Part-timeReports To: Director of Education or the Education Programs Operations SupervisorDirect Reports: NoneWage: $12.00 Hr.General Summary of Position: The General Museum Assistant is responsible for front desk/reception customer relations and duties maintain cleanliness of museum galleries and studio spaces and assist in Education Programming.Principal Job FunctionsFront Desk Reception staffEngage in customer relationsRecord museum attendanceTake class registrationsProcess paymentsAnswer phones and greet customersEducation AssistantsAssist Education staff and teachers with classes, camps and family programs at both campuses and off-siteGallery duty and events at RAMPrep, clean and set upMaintenance DutiesSet up/take down classroom spacesMaintain, clean, and vacuum museum galleries, classrooms, bathrooms and other museum spacesMust have knowledge of building, museum policies, exit strategies, and emergency procedures.Required Knowledge and SkillsMust be current on all museum exhibitions, programs, and eventsDemonstrated knowledge of museum/education policies and proceduresExcellent organizational skills, including the ability to multi-task and proactively follow through on projects and tasks assignedCommand of Microsoft Office Suite and solid computer skills requiredMust be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as neededEducation and ExperienceMust be a high school student or older.Physical Requirements and Working ConditionsThe ability to lift 50 pounds and move tables and chairs as needed.NOTE: The job description above is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this position.
