The Winnebago County Sheriff's Office is currently accepting applications for the position of Corrections Officer.The successful applicant will perform the duties and responsibilities of a Corrections Officer. Starting pay is $27.25 an hour, $59,514 annually (effective 1/1/2026). Shift schedules are 12-hour days in a rotating 2-week schedule.Officers work 15 days a month with this cycle. Probationary officers will be assigned to a day shift (6am-6pm) or night shift (6pm-6am) based on operational needs. After probation, officers can bid on shifts based on seniority. The Winnebago County Jail is the 2nd largest county jail in the state, with a bed size of 1,313 and an average daily population of 750 inmates.Specialized opportunities and positions include K9, Field Training Officer, CERT, Gang Unit, Court Officer, Firearms Instructor, and more. Fully paid state academy training. Annual uniform allowance of $800.
