Road Construction Technician
The selected candidate will perform a variety of duties related to roadway signing and traffic control projects. On-the-job training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and maintain traffic control devices on or adjacent to job sites.
- Set and maintain traffic control throughout project duration, ensuring devices remain in proper location and working condition.
- Construct sign foundations, including setting forms, placing reinforcing steel and anchor bolts, and pouring concrete.
- Erect pipe and angle iron frameworks by bolting, welding, or other approved methods prior to sign installation.
- Install prefabricated directional and informational signs by hoisting into place and fastening to frameworks.
- Read and work from plans to accurately locate, drill holes, and position signs.
- Perform related signing work, including delineators, pavement striping, striping removal, reflective pavement markers, lane closures, and detours.
- Service, maintain, and repair equipment and traffic control devices as needed.
Job Requirements
- Reliable attendance with the ability to report to work on time each day.
- Dependable transportation to and from the job site.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including high temperatures.
- Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 100 pounds.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screening.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Possession of a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is preferred and may result in a higher hourly wage.
Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
- Traffic Control Technician or Traffic Control Supervisor training is preferred; however, training may be provided during employment.
