Marine Engineer

Olive Recruiting is searching for a Marine Engineer for our client in Houston, TX. This role is responsible for engineering offshore installation and removal solutions for various fixed and floating structures in the Oil and Gas Industry, as well as the Offshore Wind market. Responsibilities include guiding the activities of some of the largest construction vessels in the world as the company serves global energy clients.

Location: Houston, TX

Full-time, direct hire with client Schedule: In-office; periodic domestic and international travel required (up to 20%)

Compensation: Competitive salary (based on experience), benefits package, bonus, and PTO

Responsibilities

  • Conduct motions analysis of floating vessels to determine cargo accelerations and motions/clearance of lifted objects
  • Perform towing analysis to determine the characteristics of towed objects, including tow tug requirements and stability
  • Develop ballasting sequences for the installation of floating structures such as Launch Jackets and SPARs
  • Execute mooring line installation/removal analysis for floating facilities, including FPUs, FPSOs, and SPARs
  • Conduct statistical environmental analysis and assess weather downtime
  • Represent the company at fabrication yards to oversee preparation and installation of critical marine equipment
  • Provide offshore representation and direct guidance to offshore crews

Qualifications

  • Relevant experience in the design and analysis of floating structures
  • Programming and data analysis using tools such as Matlab or Python
  • Familiarity with Orcaflex software
  • Working knowledge of industry codes, standards, and practices (e.g., ABS, DNV, API, ISO codes)
  • Structural design experience in grillage and sea fastenings for offshore transportation of structures is a plus
  • General knowledge of hydrodynamic and stability software (e.g., MOSES, WAMIT, HydroD)
  • Experience with 3D CAD software (e.g., Multisurf, Rhino)
  • Undergraduate degree from an accredited university in an appropriate field (e.g., Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering)
