Cherry Hill Township is looking for part-time Crossing Guards to cover various morning and afternoon posts.Provides assistance to children crossing the street, maintains children's safety in traffic, and directs or expedites the flow of traffic at crossing.Places and removes signs marking the location of the crossing.Signals traffic to stop/resume using hand and/or other signal devices.Performs other related duties as assigned.Morning posts can begin from 7:15 AM to 8:15 AM and last approximately one (1) hour.Afternoon posts can begin from 2:45 PM - 3:00 PM and last for one (1) hour.Early dismissal posts can begin from 12:00 PM to 12:45 PM and last for one (1) hour.Delayed opening posts can begin from 9:15 AM to 10:15 AM and last for one (1) hour.Knowledge/SkillsAbility to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.Ability to remain aware of and alert to a variety of environmental factors, such as moving vehicles and weather.Ability to exercise good judgment and make rapid decisions related to the speed and distance of multiple vehicles.Knowledge of traffic regulations pertaining to school and pedestrian crossings.Skill in interacting with the public, especially children.RequirementsMust possess a valid New Jersey Driver's license and be able to provide their own transportation to and from posts.Must be flexible in responding to various locations within Cherry Hill Township.Must be physically capable of quickly but safely walking into an intersection, using one hand to hold a portable stop sign at around shoulder height to queue approaching traffic and use their other hand to gesture for traffic to stop or resume, and use verbal communications to direct students when to cross or when to stop.Must be able to work in all weather conditions.If hired, applicants must undergo a background investigation, consisting of fingerprinting and reference verification. Fingerprinting is done off-site and there is a cost associated.Successful candidates will be paid while receiving on-the-job training and will be issued the required equipment needed to perform the duties involved.Sick time accrued pursuant to the terms of the NJ Earned Sick Leave Act.#J-18808-Ljbffr
